For families wishing to attend the voyage, Metamorphosis Boat Charters offers personalized ash scattering at sea services. The cost for this service is $550, with an estimated duration of 90 minutes to 2 hours.

You have the option to have the Captain conduct the service or to provide your own officiant. We will include seasonal flowers for the ash scattering and will slowly circle the site before returning to the harbor. On the return journey, the Captain can provide a shoreline pass of Atlantic City and share the city’s rich history. Our goal is to provide a meaningful and positive experience of closure for the family, creating an everlasting fond memory of the service. Afterward, we will file the necessary paperwork with the EPA on your behalf and provide you with a copy and a Certificate of Scattering, including the date and location of the scattering.

Unattended Scattering at Sea: $350

Often, families are unable to venture to sea or attend a sea scattering service. In such cases, our captain will take the cremated remains on an ocean voyage on the family’s behalf. A dignified ash scattering or burial at sea is performed, and the necessary paperwork is certified and provided to you. This is our most affordable option, priced at $350. We will also provide flowers and document the event with digital photography at no additional cost if requested. Additionally, you may video-conference or FaceTime during the scattering to share in the experience.

7 passengers & above Attended Service for Burial / Ashes Scattering at Sea: Call for Pricing

The Metamorphosis can accommodate up to 6 passengers. For larger groups, we can assist with logistics on an alternative US Coast Guard inspected vessel. Pricing varies based on group size, location, and season. Please call us to discuss your needs, and we will provide specific pricing information.

Virtual Participation: The Atlantic City Advantage

Due to the mobile cell phone antennas located on top of the Atlantic City skyline, we have excellent cell phone reception offshore at the scattering location. This allows for unlimited virtual participants via FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp, or Teams. This option enables family or friends who are far away or not fond of the sea to participate live in the service. It also helps manage the number of attendees, keeping within the 6-passenger limit for optimal affordability.
